I've heard that Sophomore PNM's have more of a say in the recruitment process, is this true? Also any advice specifically for Sophomore girls??

Thanks!!

I'd say they have less of a say, because houses are really looking for upperclassmen who the actives already know/like if they can. Unless your gpa is stellar and you're very involved and pretty, you will most likely be limited. Keep your mind open! There's a house for you, just be yourself. It only takes one

I thought each house had to have a certain number of upperclassman?

There is a separate quota for freshmen and upperclassmen, but that just means that the upperclassmen don't have to compete with freshmen for bids, otherwise the composition of the total bids would almost all be skewed toward freshmen. But that is not the same thing as having to take a certain number of upperclassmen. A quota is a limit, not a minimum.

What if you do have a good gpa and are pretty but don't have connections? Will your options still be prettt limited as an upperclassman?

It all depends on the house. More desirable houses will most likely have upperclassmen pnms who are connected who will fill their upperclassmen quota. Your options won't be limited you just don't get any more of a say than freshman pnms

in other words are all the upperclassmen spots already "filled" by sophomores the girls know?

There is not a pre-determined number of slots so they are not already 'filled.' Sophomores have connections at more than one house and have to rush just like freshmen.

Sophomore spots are not all "filled". You have a good chance to find a home.

But it probably won't be upper tier if you don't already have connections with those houses, unless you have been hiding under a rock and are top grades, student govt or beauty queen.

Rush is hard, but it's crazy how people say you need to be "beauty queen" or president to get into a top tier house. Hello - every single house here has below average girls in every personal aspect. Heck, I'd argue that HALF of every house has normal, respectable, decent human beings who aren't unique compared to any other pnm. Go through rush and have fun. Honestly, you can have all of those perfect qualities and still have hard cuts because at this school, connections are > quality 80% of the time. So to answer your question, you're basically a freshman. Good luck.

You should refer to yourself as a red shirt freshman.

This is true if you know people going into rush. But if you don't have connections you may be at a disadvantage.
