u r a person not letters
by: stop
Stop thinking that you can judge someone's personality, wealth, worth, intelligence, or sociability based on their letters.
Girls who obsess over rush may have gotten 35 recs, know 50 actives, and made 4 house visits during the school year. They may end up in a "top" house.
A very similar girl academiclly, socially, and physically may go to a "bottom" house because she is from far OOS, is the first person from her town to ever go to bama (which is happening more often with bamas push for OOS students), signed up for rush after the communication deadline and therefore no one followed her or knew who she was, and only was able to get 10 LOR in the time she had to prepare.
One girl is no better or worse in quality than the other. Use your house to improve yourself socially, academically, personally, and in your future career paths, but your letters are not a reflection of your quality.
"Bottom" houses aren't full of bottom girls. Top houses aren't full of "top" girls. Sometimes its all about who was able to get their face in their first and shmooze enough actives. Sometimes it's about being a filler girl. Go where you feel the most welcomed-- whether thats top, middle, bottom, off campus, wherever. Your letters aren't who you are, but use your organization to create or improve yourself.

Aren't you being slightly hypocritical? Typically a person not so concerned with brandishing social greek lettered organizations symbols likely would not participate in recruitment at all. Rushing nowadays is all about the quest for "top" sorority or the next best house that everyone perceives as greater than the one that is rumored to be the least socially acceptable.
Thousands of girls rushing this year at Bama are not rushing to be a part of a social group that won't help their image and reputation around campus.
It's college and it's life lighten up and have fun!

Just because a house is top doesn't mean the girls are snobby, superficial, and mean.
Just because a house is bottom doesn't mean the girls are more genuine or noble or sisterly than girls in top houses.
Tiers matter. Bottom houses are bottom for a reason. Fix yourselves instead of being bitter and jealous.

Plenty of girls, especially OOS ones, are not rushing to join a "top" house. No PNM should be. We rush to find friends, to find a community, to find bible studies and study groups and dinner buddies, to get involved in philanthropy and meet new people. We rush to make this big school feel a little bit smaller.
If you're rushing to be popular or you think someone's letters reflect their social worth, you should go back to high school where you belong.
