of the houses left for you after sisterhood,

by: so

how many of them knew you, knew of you, or had followed you on Instagram/social media prior to rush?

I am wondering what your chances are with a house who doesn't at least have you on their radar? Is it possible to walk in and really make an impression? Which houses is this most likely to happen in?

I know you pnms are nervous and anxious about recruitment and who could blame you. Every individuals, houses, and pledge classes recruitment is different. There are no magic formulas or answers as to how to get into a certain house etc....my advice is to stop trying to come up with different scenarios and what ifs. Enjoy what is left of your summer. Stay off this site until after recruitment. Listen to helpful posts about things like hand held fans, water proof makeup, oil blotting sheets, etc... and ignore the rest. Come into recruitment looking your best, with a smile on your face, positive attitude, and open mind. Be true to yourself and it will all work out the way it is meant to be. Good luck and just breathe!!!!!

It is certainly possible to walk in and make an impression without the big social media build up. If fact, this actually does happen every year in every house. It goes the other way too all the time; someone looks great until we meet her in person and then she's not at all what we expected. This is why we recruit in person and not just off social media or recs or word of mouth. You would never pick a house like that, would you? You want to actually meet people in person first, don't you? Try to relax.

Out of state (From the west) and knew absolutely no one at UA when I stepped on campus, except for a couple of people that I met at Bama Bound, and only one of them was going through Recruitment. My social media consisted of Facebook that I hadn't posted on in over a year. Other than my Recs, which I did have two for each house, I doubt anyone knew who I was.

You'll be fine!

When I came to UA I knew a KD that didn't like me, a friendly Zeta, a PM and a GPB I didn't know well.

I held onto PM and ZTA for sisterhood, but prefed/pledged what most consider a top tier house where I didn't know a soul.

The houses do their research on girls and have preliminary wish lists ahead of time, but some of those girls turn out to be flops, so there's always room for "middle girls" to rise to be on a house's bid list even though the house knew nothing of her before rush.

So just relax, go with the flow and you will end up where you are supposed to be.

On pref, the only house I had where I actually knew someone was DDD, and I only knew her because we ran into each other a lot in the debate circles in our home state. The other two I had no personal connection to whatsoever. I also don't really do anything with social media. My FB is pretty much dead, and my insta only had like 10 photos at the time, none of them were "glam" shots with full hair and makeup wearing a skin tight dress at parties. Just vacation and casually hanging out with friends photos.

Didnt end up in any of the houses that followed me on social media. Only experience I had that was closely related would be when I walked into a house the girl told me "omg I've heard so many great things about you". I know that happened to my roommates at certain houses too.

I had three at pref. Two did notknow me before, one knew of me and had a good amount of followers. I went where I had the early attention and followers
