Why would someone downvote that? It's funny and a hell of a lot better than all the troll crap on this page.

Why would a house like KD take someone from a poor person suburb of Texas?

Yes there are girls from Cinco Ranch and Katy in KD. You won't hear that "I'm a KD from Katy" line though because usually she'll be wearing a big huge shirt with her letters on it and no one offers their hometown before their name anyways. A+ for effort though OP.

And to the two trolls above, Katy is neither a poor suburb nor is it affluent. It's just a solid professional/middle class suburb of Houston. Katy and The Woodlands (another suburb North of Houston) are far out in the middle of nowhere so they can build larger houses on green lots and are far away from "urban" people, so it's generally safe and there are tons of schools. Nothing good, nothing bad. Just very Michael Kors.

In other words poor. They can't afford to live somewhere nicer

As in most places, the far suburbs are cheaper than the closer suburbs. Location comes at a premium and rich people don't want to drive an hour to work every day, plus they can afford to send their kids to private schools if the local city ones aren't great.

I'm not from Texas, but I can tell that the world is not divided into just poor and rich. Just because you are not fabulously wealthy living in a $1 million house does not make you poor, Jesus, what's wrong with you, you troll? Houston is like the what, 3rd or 4th largest metro city in America? An hour's drive to commute to work is probably a reasonable price to pay for living in a safe neighborhood with good schools. Chill.

I'm not judging anyone for deciding to commute for an hour in exchange for a bigger house and better neighborhood schools. Plenty of people weigh that balance all the time - I'm just pointing out the balance exists. It is like this EVERYWHERE, from Houston and Dallas to New Orleans to St. Louis to Chicago to DC to New York. The rich people are going to be in the gentrified downtown areas and the less rich people are going to go further out in the pursuit of space/public schools.

I grew up in the DC Suburbs, and I assure you that there are a ton of 'poor' areas, the closer to DC you get in Alexandria, and some of the richest people I knew lived in the far suburbs with long commutes to work. Most people want LAND, and that is where you find it. Not everywhere is New York or LA where everyone wants to live in the City.

My dad works in DC and we lived pretty far out. He takes the metro to work and the trade off is that we have land, horses, a pool and no one would consider us poor.

See, @Well, I also happen to be from outside of DC, and there is CERTAINLY a difference in cost between the inner suburbs like Arlington/McLean and the outer suburbs in places like Prince William County or the edges of Fairfax. My family lives in a small 3-bedroom 15 mins from DC and for half its price we could have a 5-bedroom mansion in the further suburbs. Every teacher at my high school lived ~30 mins away because you can't afford to live in my school district on a teacher's salary. I could go on.

I do know people with horses and pools further out, but they ALSO have nice houses in Georgetown and go to private/boarding schools. That's where the really rich, affluent DC people live. Same with people living on the Upper East Side versus living in Westchester County - WC is probably 10x cheaper and many more 'middle class' people can afford to live there. It's a socioeconomic pattern you can follow nearly everywhere.

Hate to break it to y'all but the truly "wealthy" folks in this country aren't sending their kids to Alabama. Try Brown, Yale or closer to home, Duke.

Not sure what your second comment had to do with what I said, but okay. I'll grant you that McLean has nice areas, and so does Arlington, but for the Fairfax County area, McLean is upper middle class at best, and Arlington has some absolute terrible neighborhoods and schools, as cities often do.

I also never said that all the DC suburbs are full of wealthy people. They tend to congregate, and PWC isn't where they go.

Anyway, you do you in the urban areas, and I'll be happy with my land and I'm willing to bet that if we compared lives, we'd be rich enough for everyone on here. Not that we would, because we were raised better.

No real estate in Texas is expensive just not a pricey place to live and no state taxes which makes it even cheaper

Agreed with the poster above. KD wouldn't take a 281 suburb girl.

This is where it is messed up... I honestly think KD does judge people by their area codes. I live in The Woodlands and KD dropped me in the first round last year. Living in The Woodlands has nothing to do with money for my family... we live there because we own a ton of land out in Plantersville and Willis and we have 17 welding companies in the general Houston area. My parent's could've moved us to River Oaks but decided not to because The Woodlands is way closer to their businesses. So judge people by their area codes...

Uh, not trying to be rude, but Memorial, West U, and Tanglewood don't have that much prestige lol. Maybe River Oaks, but the others look like any other wealthy neighborhood in the US. It's not like Houston is the cultural epicenter of the US lmao.

No one is saying that those places are the cultural epicenter of the US, you dolt. Just that they're miles ahead of any small time suburb that thinks they're all that. Also, this woodland girl sounds like a real piece of work. That whole post was so cringeworthy. Lmao.
