For reference, that is about 150 less than we had registered this time last year.

Can't wait to meet all the PNMs!!!

I would have thought with a record size freshman class, the numbers would have grown! Just not the case!

Panhellenic cut registration short so that numbers wouldn't grow. It's a huge relief for everyone involved

I seriously hope that like 70% of them get a bid cause pledge classes here are too big

Probably a really unpopular opinion, but As a pnm I really wish that the bid rate was lower here. Like rush is supposed to be competitive and if you don't have a 3.0 coming out of high school then you shouldn't get a bid, regardless of money or connections. Get your grades up and try as a sophomore. We have such a big Greek community but I really think it could be better if Panhellenic were more concerned with giving bids to well rounded girls rather than whoever can pay dues. I feel like it's a privilege to be in a sorority not something you basically sign up for and get in

I agree with you but you're definitely not a PNM.

Or maybe you are and you just haven't realized that you're more of an "average" PNM than you thought (we all are) and the low bid rate you're advocating would negatively impact your friends and even you, regardless of what you'd bring to your Greek organization over the course of 4 years.

I agree and I also think chapters should kick girls out more. Like if you get a dui or something you should not be allowed to still be in your sorority. It makes the whole sorority look bad even if it's just a couple girls. I love my sisters but they really do reflect on me and I think it's rediculous as prestigious as we try to be that girls can damage our house, Panhellenic, and Greek community reputation unpunished.

I just come from an area where schools have lower bid rates. Either way I think houses here are too big. They need to stop giving bids to almost everyone or they need to put requirements on rushing.

@17 oh please Panhellenic rush is a cake walk these days there is honestly nothing special about it. All of this because some girls can't take rejection and national leadership is so f'n greedy. I mean 130 ladies in a PC is absurd but this is the new NPC where no one should be denied the opportunity of pitching over thousands of dollars. So what difference does having a 3.0 make if you the houses are just taking as many as they can get anyway?

Dude I literally said I wish the bid rate was lower. Everyone who signs up shouldn't get a bid. Don't know why you so sassy as you agree with me

will the pledge class most likely be bigger or the same size as last year since the numbers dropped

They will be about the same/ slightly smaller. Obviously Panhellenic doesn't set quota so that 100% of girls get bids and less girls will show up than are registered, but a difference of 150 girls is ~6 girls per house

Um, panhellenic doesn't set quota until after pref. It has nothing to do with how many girls register for rush.

Quota = # of girls who attend pref divided by the # of houses.

Yes but they tell each chapter how many girls they can cut so they definitely play a part in how big quota is from the beginning

A requirement to rush should be a 3.0 high school GPA. If you can't even get a 3.0 in high school, how are you going to get decent grades in college being in a sorority with all of time commitments and parties?

3.0 or no go!

I'd go with 3.2. If you can't manage that, you probably should be more focused on school work.
