I have had two of my rec writers let me know that they were contacted by the sorority to thank them and ask some more questions. They were both asked if I was good friends with a certain girl who lives kind of close to me (who, BTW, I'd never heard of). When asking around I learned she has a pretty bad reputation. I come from a larger town. Why would they draw this conclusion and should I be concerned that people thinking we may be friends will impact my rush?

1. If a sorority is reaching out to your rec writers then I think it's safe to assume that the house is decently interested in you because it's not that common for houses to take time to ask about a PNM.
2. If the rec writers told the houses that you're not friends with the girl then you should be fine. The houses are probably just trying to gage your character.
