This is actually super interesting. I always look as who does spring COB but I've never really thought to do this.
Obviously girls graduate early which isn't factored into this but I can't imagine the number of graduate early varies that much from house to house

Houses that have higher percentages of OOS will always have more drop/transfer. Some girls get here and just decide the south is not for them, and some girls come south to party and end up flunking out. So many girls wonder why southern girls are preferred, and this is why. Retention is super important-- girls from the south are a safe bid.

Surprised to see Kappa and AGD so far down the list though. They're only a few girls above GPhi which is VERY predominately OOS

Kappa doesn't surprise me- they have been a lot more receptive to OOS students than much of old row. I agree alpha gam is a surprise though. From looking at the grade report they have about average chapter size.

THIS is exactly why in-state and deep South PNMS, preferably with some legacy status somewhere and apparent means to stay in the sorority after sophomore year, are so desired. EXACTLY. It is why new row houses try hard to get them and why old row houses try hard to keep them from making progress. Very good information. Thanks for sharing.

I'd like to see numbers on OOS people that attend UA and leave as opposed to stay, regardless if Greek membership. I bet it isn't that high. However, if you are going strictly because of the Greek life, yeah, you probably aren't gonna make it.

I'm in a house with a lot of OOS and can say this is so true. By the end of first semester girls from Chicago, NJ, NY are basically transferring in droves. But we have to make quota so what can you do.

I guess this would be a good way to look at who has the best sisterhoods. Less girls leaving means a happier house.

members rarely leave because of "sisterhood issues". They leave for personal reasons usually relating to a change in location (they transfer), their priorities and the ability to cost-justify the expense over time, or they graduate mid-year.

That is close to 400 girls dropping. Besides the transfers why so many drops? Concerning for pnms overall regardless of which house. Are people really that unhappy with the houses they end up with?

I think at least 1/3 or 1/2 account for graduates. The others-- I would say a great deal are transfers. A smaller percentage is girls who fail out. I think the number of girls who drop because they just don't like the house is actually pretty small.

Yeah tramsfering/ dropping out bc of low grades/ having to drop for money reasons/ getting kicked out are all much more common than a girl dropping bc she hates the house

Also remember houses can kick girls out. This generally indicates an issue but my houses exec kicked out a lot of girls this spring who had multiple semesters of bad grades, and we are one of the last few on the list. There are so many possible reasons

@OP where did you get the numbers for this? Because if you took them straight off the grade report and just subtracted the Spring total members from the Fall total members then your numbers are going to be off because girls do graduate early in December.......

But honestly how much variation is there from house to house with the number of early graduates? At the end of the day there's still a clear difference between how many girls alpha chi is retaining vs how many girls alpha phi is retaining

Well, there actually is a clear variation. My house is on the bottom half of this list and we had a lot of early December graduates. My house is also known for having a strong sisterhood, and obviously I know I'm biased, but saying that the atmosphere of my house is the reason why so many girls dropped is inaccurate. Also, lumping early graduates into a "drop" number is wrong... Those are two distinctly different scenarios that reflect the house two distinctly different ways.

The OP should clarify what numbers she used because different numbers portrait different situations.

How many dropped? How many graduated in December? That would be a better breakdown. Lumping them together as drops is skewed.

Thinking this is being used as another way to bash certain houses and show the superiority of others. Numbers don't show the true picture. Girls transfer graduate etc.... let's get the real numbers before we judge sisterhood etc....
