spring cob
by: PNMOn the grade reports it shows who did COB in the spring. Do those houses have retention problems or did they just not pledge enough girls in the fall?

Houses do COB for various reasons. Sometimes they have a large amount of girls who graduate early, sometimes they have a lot of girls who transfer out, sometimes girls pledge and just don't like the house... And these are situations EVERY house faces. The only difference with houses that COB and those who don't is that houses that COB do tend to have lower retention rates, but it's not necessarily because the houses are "bad." It's hard to explain...

Several new row houses usually do cob. It's often a different group each year. New row have more oos and fewer legacies, so they suffer more transfers and older members just dropping because they are moving on and are not returning to an area where they see value in being an alum.
