cuts without recs?
by: pnnare there any houses that you know will cut you if you don't have a rec? I have recs for most houses, but theres a few I havent secured yet, so I'm just checking to see what houses I still have a chance with. I'm OOS north, 3.4 unweighted gpa, and a pretty good social resume.

No hate. They have been clear in their materials they don't require recs. A national thingy.

Get recs for every house. How many times do we have to say this? All of Old Row will drop you automatically for not having at least one rec. top of New Row probably does too.

The annoying thing is they let PNM's with horrible GPAs rush and then don't give weaker recruiting houses like mine big enough release figures to cut them🙄 So either we're the bad guys for cutting more than Panhellenic suggests, or we're the bad guys for having a bad GPA. Can't win. Thanks Panhellenic

A lot of houses don't require recs, however, understand that its you and 3000 other girls. at this point you cant change your gpa or magically become nick sabans niece, so recs are the only competitive edge you can control. youll have a great rush experience regardless, but I immediately got dropped from the 3 houses I didn't have recs for and that was something I regretted not putting more effort into.

You will not have a great rush if you don't have recs. I know of at least 7-8 houses that cut for no recs. Doesn't matter if you have 4.0. No rec = dropped

Recs are required for at least half the houses. As in they can't give you a bid if you don't have a rec.

A lot of houses DO NOT require recs for them to extend a bid to you. However, recs are seriously suggested because they show you're serious about Greek life and they show you're at least somewhat knowledgable about the process. I strongly suggest looking really hard for recs for all houses... At least one per house, but two per house would be ideal.
Most sororities at Bama have huge nationals, a quick google search for local alum chapters isn't too hard.

I think they meant like their nationals literally requires it, because in truth most don't. The only one I can think off the top of my head that people say you actually need one to pledge is Chi O, there may be more. But at Bama it's a "requirement" because of how many girls there are and how deep we have to cut.

oh, and some houses actually are impressed if you have multiple recs (but not more than 3 or 4). they see it as a signal you are really interested and wanted to make sure they got done so you got more than needed. so if you are worried bout your status it is a way to get noticed a little more in advance.

at the greek life bama bound session they said that recs weren't required, and they would work for you, but not against you if you don't have them. is this not true?
