out-of-state and rushing
by: Freshmeat
I want to pledge
on scholarship and from a different state
trying to keep a high GPA but honestly I'm not too worried about that
what houses should I be looking at?
I heard that a large number of the fraternities care a large amount about you being from bama and where in bama you come from so I obviously am at a disadvantage in that sense

Don't worry about it, Freshmeat. What you want to do is make it down in the spring or summer for rush parties. There is a good house for you. Try not to show up in mid-August not knowing anybody. There will be rush weekends earlier than that. Also, don't believe any of these stupid rankings on this board. It's just a bunch of fraternities self-ranking themselves way higher than they actually are. So don't disqualify any houses. Come on down! See where you fit. You're gonna love it, little brother!!!

Exactly, but touching up on the rush parties; a weekend in April is when a vast majority of bids are given out, but I'm not sure how many out of state bids are given on that weekend. Just like Brewski said, don't come down here in August and expect to get a bid from a house that you may want to be a part of. Just come down and party with us from January (if possible) throughout the summer and you will find out whose house you want to be a part of and and which house wants you.
