urban or not urban is the question

Thanks. Totally guessing but trying to make it an "educated guess"... Hopefully nobody is offended or anything. Just a rising senior's opinion looking back at the trends over the past few years and they pnms they have ended up with during my time.

I look at it kind of this way-- these three houses don't have that many areas in which they can realistically improve, so therefore they have to stay the same. I don't think it was an insult.

(And I'm not saying they're perfect houses or anything but they all have a good mix of grades, looks, involvement, etc)

Agree. That is how I take it but xo does need to up their non-southern oos game. They let those go to pi phi, zta etc. They still focus too hard on in state pnms. Pm is heavy urban/suburban already so they have sorta already made a pivot. Axo same but they still love the small town girls that are smart as whips, but lack in the social side, and the suburban cheer queens that don't bring much other than social. They could fall off their top status over a longer trend line if they don't adjust a little. Watch kappa to make a run at tip top if they can get the grades rocking.

It would be super easy for kappa to get the grades thing in order because they're so desired during rush-- there's no reason a house with top return rates can't be at the top of the grade report. I sympathize with bottom houses with low GPAs because they don't get to hand pick their girls as much but there's no excuse for a top house.

KKG could be top if they let go of the mobile preoccupation. KKG could recruit a top level grades class if they wanted to. They just have a lot of legacy commitments they try to respect and they do love that Mobile vibe (or is it that DKE wants them to have those Mobile girls)? But I digress.

It's ironic to me- that as a Texas girl myself, born and raised and now at Bama, that everyone here seems to think that what UT does sets the trend for other greek schools. Our fellow SEC school- Texas A&M -does not have the PKT hype and their top houses are DDD, DG and ZTA with KKG, XO, AXO and Pi Phi rounding them out. TCU and Tech are also different as well. Not all Texas girls are PKT crazy - just the rich Dallas girls that want to go to UT. So no, what UT does shouldn't have much relevance on us- they are becoming less and less relevant nationally as well.
