inaccurate rec

by: pnm

I know this website isn't the best place to ask questions about rush, but I ran into an issue with one of the alumna that submitted a rec/sponsor form for me. We didn't know each other personally. We contacted via email. I sent her my resume and picture. After she finished filling out the form and submitted, she sent me a copy of it. There was some errors. I will be a sophomore but she listed me as a freshman. She also filled everything out using mostly my high school information instead of college. Is this a huge issue if my resume that has accurate information is attached or would I have to tell her to change it? Please help!!

I would contact the house she wrote the rec for directly. You can find emails on the Panhellenic website. Just explain your situation and ask them if she would redo the rec or if you providing the accurate information via email is okay.

So you advise against just leaving it how it is? I would hate to ask her to resubmit it since she was almost too busy to submit it to begin with. Plus the house would see my resume and realize what is right and wrong.

I think the house would contact the rec writer if they saw inconsistencies. I doubt you're the first person this happened to so I wouldn't stress.

Even though she's busy, I think you should ask her to fix. If she was too busy to write an accurate rec she shouldn't have agreed to write one. She should be embarrassed, and you should NOT feel like you're bothering her. She dropped the ball.

No, I'm advising you to contact the house directly. Let them know about what happened and ask whether or not they would prefer the alum to resubmit the rec. The house may request that the rec is re-submitted with the proper information or the house may tell you it's fine and they'll make a note of it.
