reassurance
by: PNMI am a PNM and rush is something I have ALWAYS wanted to do. I consider myself a very educated PNM and I can't believe this fall I'm finally rushing. However, since joining a sorority is something I've always wanted to do I am so nervous about getting cut / not finding my right home. I feel so much pressure even though the women writing me recs have told me how impressive I am and my grades / resume. Can anyone offer some experience if you felt the same way as me as a PNM? I can't imagine why I would get cut for a majority of houses but I'm scared of being heart broken during rush

So rush was also something I always wanted to do, as a child pretty much every strong woman I knew was also a sorority woman and I was 1000% certain that I wanted to go through rush.
Rush is stressful, difficult, complicated, and heartbreaking for everyone I think. Yes, you are going to get cut by houses you loved. You are going to go to bed one night completely imagining yourself as a sister of ABC and then wake up the next morning to learn that is never gonna happen. Nearly everyone suffers heavy cuts at some point in the process. The girls that don't have a huge drop-off after the first round will usually have it after the second or third, for example.
BUT you seem really earnest and genuine in your desire to make sorority life work, which I honestly think gives you personally a better chance of being happy than a LOT of PNMs. As long as you don't fall into the trap that you can only be happy in this house, or this type of house, then you will be JUST FINE. As long as you are open to the opportunities and experiences that every house on this chapter can provide, then you will find your home. Home is what you make of it. The PNMs that end up unhappy are usually the ones that don't realize that.
I love my letters, I love my house, and I will be proud of my membership until the day I die. There is nowhere else I'd rather be. I decided that my house was going to be my home, and now it is. I wish you all the best and hope you can do the same thing!

This is the best advice. I didn't mean to downvote active who said she loves this! I meant to upvote. It's so true and you will land in a house and you'll love it. You have a great attitude and it will shine through during rush. I too spent many times during rush stressed, confused and overwhelmed. In the end, I too love my house and wouldn't want to be anywhere else! Wishing the same for you! Just trust the process and know EVERY house has every kind of girl imaginable and there's no bad houses at Bama!
