rushing aphi
by: pnmIs aphi a hard sorority to get into? Im an OOS from New England. Not to sound shallow, but im surprised to see a low ranking on here since aphi is filled with really pretty girls (i know that sounds bad, i just assumed they were a top house)

I would say that they have a "look" or type of girl that they go for and if you fit that type it's an easy house to get into because in all honestly they aren't really looking for grades or extracurriculars. If you don't have the "look" then it would be much more difficult to get a bid from them

1. Just because a house has pretty girls does not make said house a "good" or "top" house. Every house here is good, to be better than the rest you need to focus on grades/involvement/sisterhood/etc. This general concept applies for life too, I mean just because you see a pretty girl doesn't mean she's nice, ya know.
2. Typically speaking, APHI is not that "hard" to get into. As long as you're decently looking and/or you know how to clean up for special occasions, you're pretty good to go. I know that sounds shallow, I don't mean it to, but the truth is APHI does take a lot of grade risks, probably the most of any New Row, along with ZTA and DZ. APHI is definitely one of the more appearance-conscious sororities, so they're typically willing to look past poor grades, poor reputations, poor high school involvement, etc. if you can offer a pretty face and party girl vibe.
3. Ranks change from person to person. Like you said, you assumed APHI was a top house and there are some people on campus who will agree with you. Some people prefer OR over NR/vice versa, some people prefer lower ranked over higher ranked. Everyone likes something different and has a different view on ranks and what qualifies a house as "good." Go into rush with an open mind. And above all else, please understand that ranks and tiers do not matter!

It doesn't attract the in state crowd - the girls that come here with social connections from high school, church, summer camps and sports As a result, it's ranked "low".
For OOS - particularly non southern OOS - it's a competitive house to get into. As noted it is "looks" focused seeking social and friendly girls.
I would call it a love/hate house. You are likely to either really want it or really not.
If you love it, which probably means you attractive and social, it's not hard, of not you probably won't care.

In reality they are.very relevant and higher than this site usually has them. There are a lot of old row trolls on here with an agenda. In reality old row is good but not as good or seen as any better than most of new row other than Whithij the old row bubble.
