recruitment outfits

by: Pnm

I'm a pnm coming from oos. Lots of girls on the group me have already shopped for their full recruitment wardrobe. I'm still shopping around, wondering if I really need to be concerned about speghetti straps, also are Lauren James dresses okay to wear? And for the pref round are wedges or block heels okay to wear? Any advice would be great, I'm pretty clueless on what's appropriate, I looked at videos from last years bid day and saw all kinds of styles from Nike shorts to cut offs! What is appropriate for bid day?

i feel like the other person addressed your questions pretty accurately but i will say that i suggest you wear actual sneakers/running shoes/whatever instead of sandals just because they are easier to run around in AND they're comfortable AND you don't have to worry about getting your toes stepped on/stubbing them/scraping them in the chaos that is bid day. yeah plenty of girls wear sandals and you should wear WHATEVER you feel most comfortable in, but i feel like closed-toe is the way to go :)

No rompers!

So no rompers even for the casual days? I read that the length of the dress should be knee length too but what about necklines and backs? I found a cute covering front dress with criss cross open back is that appropriate? I know it will be very hot! Is there any fabric I should avoid due to the heat? Thanks

The safest option is to find something both cute and appropriate... Think church, country club, and wedding attire. You're not going to wear a low cut, open back dress to church. However since this is just rush you don't need to be ultra conservative. Dresses don't need to be exactly knee length, but they should definitely pass your finger tips if you were to put your arms straight down on your sides while wearing it... But also long enough so that you can sit in chairs and on the floor without worrying if any sees something.
Another general rule of thumb is no rompers. I know it's tempting because they're so comfortable yet can be dressy, but the safest bet is no rompers. Some actives will say they're okay but a lot others will say it's a big no. There's a certain formality with rush attire, dresses are a must.
I would avoid anything too cottony, it can be heavy in the heat and can show sweat very easily. A lot of girls wear dresses with the sort of light chiffon material.
