If by family affiliation you mean "connection" then your chances of getting a bid do go up slightly. A lot of sororities do hold connections to a high importance. It's great that you're looking at the philanthropic side of these sororities though! Hope you have a great rush!

There are plenty of women on this campus that spend a GREAT deal more than .00000001% of their time helping with philanthropy, and it's a shame you don't. My passion for my house's philanthropy is one of the most meaningful things college has given me and bonding with sisters that feel the same has made my sorority experience.
