what i realized

As an incoming senior planning to deactivate over the summer, I realized how irrelevant Greek life is in the real world. Yes, you can network, and yes, you can find long term friends. But a lot of the drama on this site and the sorority itself isn't worth it. I spent a long time allowing my sorority to affect my self esteem because of bullying, isolation, and the insular environment. I was desperate to feel connected to women who didn't care about me. I think out of the entire sorority, I can say 4 women have the POTENTIAL to be my friends, and ten or so women are genuinely great people whom I'd like to get to know more.

But seriously, the drama and hate on this site will be irrelevant after you graduate or become more involved in the professional world. You will make connections with people as an adult, and you will network with people as you progress in your career. But Greek life... I can understand why some schools hate it, and I can understand why students love and need it.

You can keep on with the hate here because I know this is just a stupid site for stupid gossip, but I hope that you all become more involved in the real world sometime soon.
