joining a pledge family
by: Sad
So both my bigs and little deactivated. I'm a junior who joined as a soph, so this felt like my only chance. Cob occurred, and I had the chance to get a little. But I was too late even though I emailed the same night. I asked one of the bigs to the new little if I can join her family. I offered to buy things for that little and help out in any way I can. She thinks it's alright, but is waiting to talk to the rest of the family. I feel pretty isolated from my sorority, since my big had no interest in me, and my little wanted to completely break away from the sorority even if that meant severing ties with me.
Do you think this is taboo? I already know the little, and we have a good friendship going on. I know this isn't end of the world, but I was pretty crushed from the double rejection

I don't see a problem. You should have had first priority since you have no pledge family. If the family is OK with it I'm sure it'd be a good chance for you. Oh and my pledge family is intermixed with another family. Your family tree is already broken so it's not like you're abandoning anyone

My niece had the same experience - a big who left early, a little who didn't even show up after Bid Day, add to that a roommate who really live with her boyfriend. She never served as an officer or committee chairman. Her sorority experience wound up vastly different from mine.
Adoptions happen all the time. I hope they will all accept you!

Pledge families are not a big deal. Most people I know aren't that close to their bigs or littles. Some are incredibly close. I haven't spoken to my big since initiation, and my little does her own thing. You are in a big family anyways, and you will find your best friends outside of the pledge family. It's not too late as a senior to form relationships. Sorority is forever.

Me too! It would be awesome to be a member of a family even if it's just for another year, I believe I will make lasting connections. I'm anxious about it because rejection would hurt again, but finders crossed
