gpas for rush week ~ general thread

by: curious

Starting a thread based on GPAs for rush week as this is a common question on the site. Leave GPA requirements/usual GPA cut offs for sororities that you know of.

should be in the new greek chic

general is about a 3.0

the higher you have the safer you are

I think AXO's is higher and a few houses are 3.3 I believe kkg, chi o, pi phi, AGD, probably other's too but those are just ones I've heard!

They are in the Greek Chic, and most are just a 3.0 and some were 3.2-3.3 but I think the op is referring to what each house wants / what GPA they are willing to take because people on here make it sound like you need at least a 3.5 or above yet it doesn't match with what GPA's are actually recommended on UA Panhellenic. Why is this?

Every house wants people with high GPAs. I don't think houses are too excited to get people with low GPAs, that's why it's the easiest thing to cut. They are willing to take lower GPAs ( who fit other criteria ) after they have exhausted the list of students with high GPAs ( who fit other criteria ). So regardless, you want a high GPA. There's always a bare minimum. However, if a house is comparing someone with a 3.0 GPA and another girl with a 3.8 GPA with the same qualifications (connections, looks, personality, wealth), they are more inclined to take the girl with the high GPA.

I am confused about gpa. I have a 3.4 unweighted gpa but a 4.02 weighted gpa. When talking about gpa are you talking about weighted or unweighted or do houses just take the higher one? Would I be considered someone with a high gpa or no? Sorry if this is an obvious question but I just really don't know.

Generally speaking, weighted grades are considered rather than unweighted.
Each sorority could do it differently, though.

Pi Phi is 3.3 and AXO is 3.4 I believe?

Keep in mind that every houses is going to waive their floor acceptable grade for that "special" PNM with other qualities - a national officer legacy connection, or a special talent, title, honor, actvity.
Also, if the return rate dips too much, they can adjust.

If you're thinking of taking some summer school courses to bolster your grades, don't bother. GPAs considered are as of spring 2017. Summer is not included.
