why does everyone hate on phi mu?

It’s easy to be annoyed by PhiMus - the white house and paying for the penalty to have it; the rule breaking tours during recruitment; and the inevitable rush question about the car you drive; and the overall feeling of perfect perception pressure.
But in reality , no one really cares about PhiMu or thinks about what misery they are perceived to be in.

So many on here try to dog AXO, PMU and other top houses... laptop warriors, passive aggressive...
In reality, when recruitment starts, pnms all want them on their cards
Some want them because they truly connect with them, and that’s fine.
There is a right fit for everyone. PNMs that fit with AXO and PMU and others on top can be and seem to be very happy with how things worked out for them.
PNMs that fit but don’t get picked, seem to have hurt feelings, but then they get over it. It’s fine.
PNMs that don’t fit, still want them on their cards, though, because it makes them feel better about themselves.
PNMs that take those houses to pref and then select a new row house, are few and far between
But it happens. Usually for somebody FAR OOS.
No matter where you end up, it is what you make of it.
If you try to make something of it, you will be happy.
No matter where you get a bid.
It only takes one.

Not every top PNM wants Phi Mu (or AXO for that matter). Even now, girls from certain areas don't have Phi Mu on their radar at all.
Not that that's good or bad—just goes to show that with OR you'll never find consensus on what constitutes top of the top.

The only white house on campus was supposed to be the presidents house.
Rumor is PhiMu painted their house white and agreed to pay a penalty every year for doing so.
They adamantly deny the runout about the rule and penalty.

There is no pnm worth paying attention to who would give a flying you know what about whether or not some house or another is rumored to pay a fine for having a house painted a certain color. Stupid af

Because at U BAMA it is illegal to have a white building. The President's House, which is the only white historic structure on campus, was saved during the war when the Pres wife came out in her night gown and begged they didn't burn it down. True Story.

The university controls the complete construction of every house and building, no paint color or nail gets put in without the University's blessing. They are the construction managers and approve everything. Stop spreading this lie.

Enough of bumping old posts. This is from 2017. Phi Mu is thriving and there is no hate. This OR house has come the furthest welcoming women of color and those that don't have to look like a model.
