how it really is...fraternities and sororities
by: W.
I've been here for three years and as a member of what i have ranked as a middle tier fraternity i thought something at least remotely true should be put on this website. I'm not trying to say my rankings are 100% accurate, take them however you will but i tried to be unbiased. I just used everything i have seen, read, heard about, people i've met and people i've talked to, and just the overall impression i've gotten from every house. Coming from someone who is not Old Row, you'll still see a strong old row bias towards the top, this is because they are good houses and deserve that ranking. Every house has its good and bad, this is just an average, hopefully this can help someone trying to decide. Anyways, each tier is in random order, take them however you want, thanks.

Zeta Tau Alpha is a sorority that tends to be far more popular in the South than elsewhere in the country. The reputations of Zetas tend to range depending on who you talk to, but "party girls" is a fairly common descriptor; the less charitable have compared Zetas to the cast of the Jersey Shore. Possibly because of this, Zetas can often have highly polarized opinions among both fraternities and other sororities. Many other sororities say they are hot in a pretty fake way, with heavy use of makeup, and a bit of a "princess" complex.
Although Zetas tend to be committed to philanthropy and consistently-successful fundraisers, part of their "Southern-only" reputation seems to come with the sentiment that they only accept white girls. This, of course, is hotly disputed by the Zetas themselves.

"They even lost their charter at their founding school in Virginia."
The Longwood chapter (which is recolonizing next year) closed not because of numbers, but because they hazed and partied out of control even after nationals had threatened to shut them down before. They were actually considered top-tier on their campus.

A super accurate way to describe their reputation. They are well known but have a somewhat mixed perception.
