I think you missed the point of the post. The company that controls operations at other major US ports (New Orleans, Houston) is based out of Mobile. Also, Airbus North America engineering is located in Mobile. No one is arguing the amount of money that is concentrated in other cities. However, it is the University of ALABAMA. If you don't like the economics of this state and want to belittle it, then why bother coming to school here?

Houses aren't ranked a certain way just because of the money the members have, so no it's not ironic at all to me

Now I realize why mobile people suck so bad. Alabama instaters will try to tell you why a city like Montgomery is so prestigious and why it matters more than Atlanta, Nashville, Houston, and any other city lol. These people are just trying to make Mobile sound cool. It's really not great...like at all.

Montgomery is actually very prestigious. Obviously it's not as prestigious as the big city's you listed but those are big cities so it's different. Sure there's more prestigious people in those big cities because of the amount of people but it's a per capita thing, because many families are prestigious, well-known, and basically run the city whereas in the big city it's nothing like that.

Montgomery is mainly an auburn town.... but the prestigious families usually send their kids to bama because they are all gonna be future politicians lol

I agree with you - this is Bama. If you don't like the influence of the "best" Alabama towns in the "top ranks" of fraternities and sororities - then Go elsewhere.
But you have to admit that is a bit ironic that OOS focused houses full of their fair share of "wealthy" kids from CA, CO, NY, PA and OH are called "lower middle".
Not sayin' it should be changed. Just kept in perspective.
