intl wanting to rush

Yo you're really throwing yourself out there lmao... Like there are literally close to no international students that rush, so if you do decide to rush, you're probably going to be met with a lot resistance due to the fact you're being so desperate on this site.
1. Rush is still very competitive even with recs.
2. Where are you from? If you were born in the states you can email the alumni chapters in your state and ask for recs from them.
3. Are you for sure set on Alabama? And are you completely aware of the legitimate commitments of being in a sorority? You shouldn't waste your summer frantically searching for recs if you're not completely ready.

I'm not born in the states. I thought collecting recs would be a good thing because it would show how bad I want to be in a sorority. Also, I am aware of the commintments. I don't see how that looks desperate.

Don't waste your summer coming to the US just to look for recs, have your aunt help you. I'm sure she can gather names and you can do it all through email. You can also look up alumni and email them your info asking for a rec, most everything can be done online. Just spend the summer getting polished and ready for college. Good luck

Honestly if you come to America just two months before rush, you'll still probably have a hard time finding women to write recs for you. I know I personally started looking for recs/emailing alumni chapters around late May and it was still hard because everything takes quite a bit of time tbh.

If your aunt lives in a large city it is possible that there is a National Panhellenic Conference Alumnae chapter there. Membership would consist of women who joined sororities and have graduated college. She could explain your situation to the members. They might be willing to help. There might also be alumnae chapters of individual sororities too, so she could also contact them through their websites.

She could ask neighbors, people she works with ( even men-they might be married to a sorority alumna or have female relatives who are alumnae), friends, members of her church or organizations she is a member of.

This isn't optimal, but since your from outside the U.S. I can see how hard it would be for you to get Recs. There's a website called sorority sugar that has a page called Rec connections with a list of alums from every sorority and they're emails who may write recs for pnms with solid grades and resumes. It's not as good as getting one from someone you know, but it's better than nothing and I'm sure they would understand your situation. Hope rush works out for you!
