bruh. how many times do people have to say this... every single house takes girls that don't fit their "stereotype." so yes, traditionally southern sororities do take girls from the north/west/etc.

My northern OOS experience and observations.....

There are "southern focused" houses, but they are increasingly broadening their pull

In addition, there are great OOS focused houses too. Their lower rank is based on the fact they aren't "southern". As this is Bama, understandable, but these are great houses with great girls.

Relative to bids at the top houses - grades and personality fit are most important and honestly 'enough money' to pay the dues.

Each house gives about 150 bids. Reputations, like "old southern money" may be made from a recognizable number of the pnms but the term is over used and abused on GR. By the 100th to 150th bid it becomes more 'open'.

At the better houses grades are important (low grades will keep you from consideration) and if you 'click': Your personality, friendliness, ability to converse and your 'look'. For all the talk about old money on GR, if you have good grades and are liked, it really only takes an ability to pay the dues. Not saying there aren't girls in certain houses with 'old southern money', but no house can claim that of all 400 members.

Some non south OOS may not click at the most southern houses. But that usually goes both ways and a pnm is wise to look elsewhere if this is the case.

Finally, nearly everyone gets a bid. A fact often forgotten on GR. And, all Bama houses are great.

So relax, and focus on what works for you. You will be fine.

whats considered a decent gpa for the top houses?

i'm a rhode islander at UA and had a full pref card and got my top house, and I know another rhode islander who got her top house too. So don't worry.
