any chance sigma kappa colonizes here?

The chances of new sororities coming here has already been discussed on this site, go back a few pages. Overall, once all the construction is done with DZ, Theta, AOPi, and PBP, the school will probably add at least one more sorority and that sorority will probably be put into one of the swing houses. As you said, the sizes of these chapters is really the driving force behind this. The only problem is choosing which one to invite to come onto campus. All the sororities with respectable nationals are already here. So any sorority that comes here will struggle with not just trying to find pledges but also struggle with the financial aspect of it.

What about the chances of SDT becoming a full-fledged sorority here?
They're already on campus, why don't their nationals or panhel do something to increase their numbers? restructure and what not. That would help the numbers as well. Don't they already have a house somewhere? include them in the construction.

There are talks of 3 other Panhellenic Sororities coming to campus in the future: Sigma Kappa, Tri Sigma, and Alpha Xi Delta. Sigma Kappa or Tri Sigma will most likely be the next ones to colonize here on campus, although I'm pretty sure both have been here in the past. However, Alpha Xi Delta is not allowed back on campus, they've tried to colonize 3 times and just haven't stuck.

I'm a Sigma Kappa at an SEC school and while I would love to colonize another SEC school, especially at Bama where Greek life is enormous, I know nationals are concerned. It takes soooo much money and fundraising to be able to support a Bama sized chapter and I don't think they want the colonizing class to feel unwanted. If you observe how new chapters are received, people either think they suck and don't give them a chance or it gets really catty if they do remotely well. It's just a big financial risk not necessarily having a welcoming and supportive community who also already have these monster mansions constructed. Just what I've heard.

It really doesnt make sense to try and bring another sorority on campus when SDT is already here. All SDT needs to do is move into a bigger house (one of the swing houses once construction is done) and then participate in formal recruitment. It seems like the other three possible sororities mentioned either aren't interested in joining this campus anytime soon or are too busy making sure their newer chapters are successful. SDT has been on campus for decades so they're already familiar with how our Greek system works and girls on campus are aware of them. It doesnt make sense to spend an absurd amount of money and stress over whether a new chapter can be successful here or not when we already have a NPC sorority here that can be reinvented.

Other people here have said that the three possible sororities that could come here don't want to. Between those three sororities there's little interest, financial opportunity, and potential advisors from them.
The fact of the matter is that in upcoming years UA will need to introduce a new chapter on campus to help deal with the growing amount of interest in sorority life here. Either that or recruitment will become even more cut throat and the 96% match rate will steadily decline, and I know Panhellenic here really doesn't want to see that happen.
At the end of the day I really think SDT should strongly consider participating in formal recruitment once again. They've been on campus for decades, they're known among current Greek members but not too well known, in terms of reputation, so it would be easy for them to rebuild a new name on campus, and as someone said before they have a lot of dedicated alum that want to see them succeed.
I'm sure theres a way for SDT to participate in formal rush even with their low numbers, even if it means they wouldn't be able to speak one on one to the PNMs. If there's a will there's a way, especially here at Bama.

Look-up (here on greekrank) what is occurring at Indiana University. Their sorority system recently grew and is now getting grief on greekrank for doing so because of tier/housing perceptions.
Alabama tiers will be affected when our sorority system expands, and poor feeling toward The New Kids On The Row may end up uglier than Indiana's situation.
The nine NPC groups available to join at Alabama: Alpha Sigma Tau, Delta Phi Epsilon, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Alpha Epsilon Phi, Alpha Xi Delta, Theta Phi Alpha, Phi Sigma Sigma, Alpha Sigma Alpha, and Sigma Kappa.
@by is correct, any of those nine will more than likely struggle financially if invited to colonize. Some may not desire to belong here.
And adding just ONE group, even the perceived best group, will not significantly reduce a pledge class size problem.
So will we look to add three or four groups and allow them to go unhoused if they prefer? Since SDT traditionally does not FR, will these groups also be allowed to not FR if they prefer?
