junior rush

by: RTR

Is it impossible for juniors to rush and not get dropped from practically every house? Even, if say, you were the perfect PNM? Not saying I am, just curious on the possibilities.

Rushing as a junior definitely will limit your options, unfortunately. Given two girls, one who is a freshman and one who is a junior, who are exactly the same: attractive, smart, involved, etc. every single house would rather give the bid to the freshman. Think of it this way: giving a girl a bid is kind of like an investment for the sorority... They want to see the girl grow from her earliest days in her college career to her last and throughout those days they want to see her make the best use of her time and positively contribute to he sorority as much as she can. If a sorority is going to invest time, money, and resources into a PNM they'd prefer the girl to stay around as long as possible - 4 years, instead of 2. Also, if you're a junior and you've been at this school for the past two years your reputation will also play a big part. It's easy for freshman PNM's in this aspect because unless you're from Alabama or major cities in surrounding states, no one really knowns what you were like in high school, but if you're a junior here sororities will find people who know you to speak on behalf of your character... So if you have a questionable history that definitely will limit choices even further. However, say you get a bid from the house you want, it's still going to be awkward for the first few months because everything you do is going to be freshman. Regardless, if you want to rush go for it! Everything will work out in the end and happens for a reason!
