hypocrites

What really bothers me about this website are the conflicting messages it sends. Before, during, and immediately after recruitment, we tell PNMs to go into recruitment with an open mind, to try out whatever sorority they end up in, to embrace their house and the many different great women they have. Whenever a New Member or PNM says "I'm upset I ended up in XYZ" we tell them all chapters at Alabama are great. But as soon as someone mentions interest in or appreciation for any chapter specifically, they get torn down for "self ranking" or told all these heinous stereotypes that we tell PNMs not to listen to. Why are we acting like we can only praise a chapter so long as their members know they're "consolation prizes"? Why is it so crazy that an anonymous freshman might actually like a chapter that someone else deemed undesirable? Let's just let these girls be happy, and if they genuinely are happy in a chapter you didn't like, good for them! We all have different opinions and preferences, and that's what makes us human.

You sound sane and rational @confused.

But, this site is driven by mental illness! Seriously.

There are a lot of insecure people, who justify their own choices by knocking down others so they can feel good about themselves. They need to be told their fraternity/sorority is tops to for some measure of self worth.

I'm familiar with a few parents that are also overly invested in their daughter's status and have commented. Please think about the message that sends to these young women and the priorities that should actually matter.
