by: WonderingJust curious, why doesn't SDT participate in formal recruitment? It's a shame they don't? Will this change next year? Love to hear your thoughts SDT! I hear some great things about you and can't figure out why you don't formally recruit!

Think about it - you have a chapter of 60 to 80 girls. More than 100 are coming to your house to visit - 10 times today alone!
It's extremely difficult to recruit when your numbers don't match those of the other chapters.
Note that I said numbers - not the love or fun or things done together, just numbers.
Years ago, the chapter and their advisers concluded that they would do better recruiting more on an individual basis.
It works for them.
At one point they did recruit with the other groups. Perhaps in the near future - once the sororities now on the row finish building - they can move back over to Sorority Row, expand their membership, and resume recruiting with the rest of us.
For now - I think there's definitely a place for a sorority of women who don't find formal recruitment appealing and choose to do it differently.

It's not fair that sororities like SDT, ADXi, AKA, etc. don't participate in formal recruitment, yet try and piggy back on a bunch of Greek events that sororities that participate in formal recruitment do. They need to pair up with other legit sororities for philanthropy events and even homecoming events and its honestly not fair. If they choose to be independent and not participate in formal recruitment then they need to keep being independent all school year. It's also not fair that they can choose to not participate in formal recruitment and let the 18 NPH sororities struggle with accommodating 100+ girls every round of rush. The number of PNMs just keeps going up every year, and yes the 18 NPH sororities either have big houses or are going to build, but the pledge class numbers will just keep going up every year, its just inevitable, so SDT, ADXi, etc. should really participate in formal recruitment. Either that or the university's going to have to bring in a new sorority.

OP, to answer your question: right now, with all the building and sororities shuffling around among temporary housing, no other group has expressed interest in UA for right now.
Before all the building started, UA Panhellenic voted to open to at least two more groups (if I remember correctly). Delta Gamma came on board. At least two more groups were also interested, but the timing was not right, plus rebuilding had started.
So yes, UA is interested in adding another group but it's going to be two or three years down the road.

You're super misinformed. I don't know a single girl in a Panhellenic sorority who thinks this way. SDT is the only sorority who can participate in formal recruitment who doesn't anyway. AKA and adCHI are completely different types of sororities.
