transfer rush
by: .Hi so I'm transferring to UA as a sophomore in the fall and I want to know if it's worth it to rush? Like how slim are the chances of me getting my top house? If someone who rushed as a sophomore or a girl in a house alaready at alabama could answer this that would be great, otherwise your response wont help but so much. What are the things I can do to make my chances as big as possible?

The sororities all have to meet a certain quota of sophomores they take. There are sophomores in every house but I honestly wouldn't worry about the whole tier system. Make sure you stay involved and keep your grades up. They say a 3.0 puts you in the clear for all houses but that's just not true, some will drop you if you don't have an extremely high gpa. I hope you do rush though it's worth it no matter the house you're in!

I rushed as a sophomore, out of state, had a high GPA, and had no recs, and only got dropped from one house throughout rush.. Alpha Phi. They obviously only go for looks because my GPA was a 3.9. Anyways, don't worry about it. If you have a good personality and a good GPA, you're fine.

Hope, no sorority HAS to take sophomores. The upperclassman quota is there to encourage sororities to take extra upperclassman, but it's not a requirement.
Transfer, there may be a handful of sororities that won't take upperclassmen unless they're a legacy or something, but don't let that stop you. Plenty of sororities DO look for qualified girls no matter what the class (well, they might pause at a junior or senior).
To make yourself as attractive as possible, get great grades, win awards, get involved on campus (even one or two things helps), and polish those conversational skills. Plenty of sophomores and even a handful of juniors pledge every year. No reason you can't be one of them.
