major

by: Hi

Do some sororities drop girls if they have hard majors? Just wondering. Like even if she had a 4.0 in high school will some houses drop her for being an engineering major or something like that?

Have you seen girls who major in engineering......

It has nothing to do with the major.

We have no idea what your major is when you come through recruitment. It's all about how you did in high school with grades, extracurriculars and reputation. We don't care if you're going for fashion merchandising, finance or a degree in Chinese!

Only if you do poorly in your college classes. Most sororities have a probation period, then if you can't stay at 3.0 you are dropped.

What posters on this board are missing, and I think what you are asking about, is will a sorority drop you as a grade risk if you have a hard major. They are not even thinking about this during recruitment. So no, they don't care. But the reality is, and you are smart to think about this, you are not going to have as high a GPA as an engineering major because it's hard, really hard. In some classes you are doing good to get a C. Chapters have a GPA they need to maintain, and some will hold individuals to this number and have no choice but to academically suspend members who don't maintain the required individual GPA, and they won't care that you are an engineering major. These are the houses to think twice about.
