thinking of dropping
by: new memberThe title is kind of self explanatory-- I loved my sorority when I was going thru rush, but now I'm not so sure. I really just wanted a good sisterhood, but instead I get to hear about how girls from other sororities are going out to dinner with their bid day bigs and mine abandoned me that day. I'm in an old row sorority, but everyone seems to know each other and be super cliquey already, while I know NOBODY. I don't know what to do because I really want to like greek life, but I now regret picking the chapter I did.

I'm really trying to keep my head up with this right now, but it's hard when you see instagram pictures of your bid day big and the other girl she had for bid day hanging out and wearing shirts from old events that had obviously been handed down, while you haven't gotten so much as a text. Just to clarify, this isn't my actual big, right???
Also, the ONLY reason I mentioned old row was because there's a difference in where most of the girls come from, location wise. A lot of these girls went to camp or high school together, or at least have mutual friends. I literally dngaf about whether or not I get some extra shirts and an extra party. I didn't even know that old row was a thing until I came here and girls told me about it.

No, she will not be your big. My bid-day big greeted me warmly, showed me my bag of goodies, helped me get dressed, gave me directions to go get water, and I was pretty much on my own. I totally understood that she wanted to hang out with her friends. I'm a sophomore, so I am pretty independent and know how to make my own friends. I met some great girls on my retreat and I am looking forward to meeting more! I am OOS (far OOS) and also in a house termed "old row" (though that usually applies to fraternities). You just have not found your girls, yet. They are there (seriously, there are over 150 girls in our pledge classes)!! You just need to introduce yourself and go eat at the house. Also, get involved in other campus organizations. If you are really interested in SGA, you need to meet more people than just greeks. Hang in there! Everyday is a chance for it to be a great day!

This situation can happen in any sorority. You will find your people! I'm not super close to my big, but I love my sorority, but it took first semester to feel comfortable there.

Honestly, I don't know. Something seems very off about me getting a bid to where I did because of my lack of connections and who the other 2 chapters that I preffed were. I did not know a single active in any house or any other PNMs going through recruitment with me. I'm hoping that with time, I'll be able to meet new people.

You may have been "sold" but it is because you have lots to offer. Just settle in and start the plan outlined by the lady above. Also, go make friends or renew your bonds with other pnms that went to other houses. All the girls are friends with each other.
