Probably None. They have to go get one for you since you didn't get one. If they really want you. It's a hassle.

And the people that say "they didn't have a rec but still got in" don't know that the chapter had to go find one for them.

If a sorority really wants to pledge someone and they have a policy that requires a PNM have at least one recommendation/reference form in order to be eligible for membership, they will find a recommendation for her. They won’t let her get away just because she can’t find her own recommendation!

some of the lower houses wont care as much if you don't have a letter of rec like aopi, theta, dg, dz, and gphi. some of the houses that are harder to get into might drop you because you don't have one, but they might keep you if you are pretty, have really good grades, or make a very strong positive impression.

DG's national policy is that PNM's must have a rec to pledge. Like pp's said, if the house really wants you and you don't have a rec, they'll hunt one down during rush week but it's a pain.

Don't assume the newer/ lower houses have less strict national rules about recs.

Why would you even say "lower houses" and assume they don't need recs for these houses? If you're not in the sorority you probably have no clue what their policy is and stop trying to belittle these house. I'm sick of seeing this like "lower houses" or "lower tiers". If you don't know your facts then don't comment.

I know girls in just about every house who didn't have a rec. I know of multiple girls who had ZERO recs and had great full schedules all week. If a house wants you they'll find you a rec, but if they also want PNM Polly equally and she has a rec they'll chose her over you. Get as many recs as possible! If you don't have them don't stress out.

All the houses, low and high require a rec. If they REALLY want you they'll find one. But if you and another girl are even remotely even, they'll take her and not bother if she has a rec and you don't. Tbh, it shows that you're committed and willing to work for something if you have a rec.

Find someone, anyone, in a house where you have a connection or friend and get a rec. just do it

as a recent alum....Several new row houses do not require recs now that the online system fills in all of your info from when you register. Obviously they're encouraged.

^^^^^Not true. Someone is trying to sabotage pnms and it's disgusting. You need a rec.

I know a couple of new row houses will not invite you to second round without a rec. it is still not too late.

If someone comes to a competative rush like ours and doesn't bother to get recs, she isn't sorority material. We drop first cut. It just shows lack of commitment and preparation. And we are not considered a "top house".

Okay but what if you tried to get recs for every house but couldn't because you didn't have the connections/alumni groups near by?

The houses that you got recs for will keep you. You can only pledge one! It is true that if a house LOVES you they might find a way to get one. But some just have a policy to immediately cut. If they also LOVE a PMN with a rec, they will keep her instead. Lining up recs should start early in senior year.

Many recs are electronic now, not too late, get on the phone with some family friends and let them find the missing ones

If you don't have alumni groups near you, reach out to alumni groups across your region/nation. Not all of them will write a rec for you but some of them will, and if you ask enough, you can get at least one rec for every house.
