helpful advice
by: FreshmanPledge class 2015, what would be some advice you could give us new pnms for 2016? If you had 1 or 2 pieces of honest, good advice what would it be? For recruitment week...... And the haters no need to comment.. I am excited about rush, I read Greek Chic and its self explanatory but I'd just like to get some helpful advice for all these days of recruitment. Maybe what is advice that you wish you had gotten? TIA

If I could redo rush I would treat it more like an interview. Now hear me out the object of an interview is to essentially sell yourself and that's how you should treat rush. What qualities do you possess that could enhance that sorority? If you danced, cheered, or ect make sure to talk it up. The object is for you to have as many houses so that YOU can chose what house you want and not vise versa. Also remember that each house is different. I hate to stereotype, but houses like alpha phi or zeta wouldn't be the best to talk to about grades. While houses like chi o and alpha chi would be. Classify each house into categories and always have a backup convo. Always make sure to be yourself, but once again you want to have as many houses as possible. The house you didn't like first round might be the one you end up falling in love with so give each house a fair chance. Also take a FAN DO IT!!!! Target and Walmart ran out last year. You can always go to Homedepot.

Be realistic. This sounds harsh but don't come into rush with unrealistic ideas about which houses you'll get invited back to. If you have a 3.1 gpa you're most likely not going to be invited back to alpha chi. If you're not very pretty you probably won't be asked back to alpha phi. While there are exceptions every year and you should definitely still list these houses first if you like them, it's important not to get your heart set on a house if you don't seem similar to the girls that they have.
