This is actually true, you need a squad pulling for you hard in a house if you are a sophomore. One friend probably won't help that much.

I had a few friends rush as sophomores last year who got bids. Some of them even got bids from "top tier" houses and no you don't have to be super rich for that. I'm rushing as an upperclassman this year and the way I see it, if I don't rush I won't get a bid at all. The only way to figure out if you have a good chance of getting a bid is to actually rush.

Sophs are good low risk high return bc they are known. So houses lake to supplement last years misses with this years Sophs. So it is a squad pull thing.
