I was just wondering why Theta was always ranked last. They look nice on their social media and have good grades. If you accept a bid from them, do people actually treat you any different then if you were in a higher ranked house?

if you get a bid from theta, accept it and experience their sisterhood. With 2800 pnms rushing you would be LUCKY to receive a bid from them. They picked YOU to be their sister, top tier or not. If you don't understand the weight of that statement then you shouldn't be rushing in the first place.

Theta is always seen at the bottom because
1. they're not machine-affiliated
2. They're going to be the last house without a new house
3. Guys don't think they're the best looking
4. someone has to be the bottom.

But are you choosing a sorority based on the girls you'll be friends with for life? or a reputation for 4 years from a guy's perspective???????

Yup agree. Actually not just a guy's perspective but a bunch of mom's on here too. Don't put much stock in anything posted to this site.

Someone has to be ranked last if you make a list. None of it really matters though. No, you won't be treated differently. All sororities here areally great. Go where you feel most comfortable after meeting the sisters. You'll have tons of friends for life no matter which sorority you join!

Is a great chapter that happens to be in competition with 15 other great chapters. At another school they'd be a solid middle house.

I don't get the "Thetas are unattractive" thing. And even though they're not getting a new house yet, I think their current house is beautiful.

They're a "new" house on campus (48 years old), and at Bama if you haven't been on campus since the invention of the wheel, you suck.

They've just been falling a little bit. They'll probably spend a few years on the bottom and them things will shift again and it will be a totally different house someone is posting like this about.

if you compare them to the rest of the sororities, they come in last in almost every category: looks, social media presence, social events (they were on probation last year), involvement, popularity, sisterhood, house (they're not getting a new one for at least 3 or 4 years). they're just known to people as well as to pnm's as the house you don't want to be in. they have improved their grades recently, but that's about it.

There is some truth to this. Yet if you are offered a bid from Theta -- please accept it. Theta is an excellent sorority nationally and here.

They are still part of one of the best Greek systems in the U.S. here at Alabama. They offer the same kind of events and sisterhood functions as all of the other chapters here.

If you are ranking they may be last on this site. Next year it could be some other chapter. As a junior here in a mid tier I can tell you it's only the freshman that care about this constant ranking BS..

Be an adult. If you get a bid from any chapter --accept it -- you will be lucky.

Look, I kept them until pref. There are a lot of nice, smart and cute girls in the chapter. They were on probation by their nationals for grades because their nationals takes grades seriously, still had a higher GPA than half the houses on campus. To me, biggest negative is they are going to be only house who isn't building or has a new house so it's going to be harder for them to pull great pledge classes for a few years. Look at the bump that gamma phi got from having a new house, their pledge class isn't any better than previous years but its perceived as better. (Not knocking their previous pledge classes at all, just saying this one was comparable in terms of grades, looks etc...) anyway, they are a good house now, and in a few years when they have a new house, you will hear about how they got such a great pledge class, on upswing blah, blah but really same type of girls, who are good girls, just seem shinier and new cuz of that new house. Just sayin'

Is there an honest active that will answer this question. Theta is great where I am from and they seem good from the outside looking in and were super nice and fun at the spring teas. I sort of don't get the continued bottom rank. So many other houses, ranked high on posts on greekrank, were not as impressive to me personally.

Look, don't rely on GR for advice on recruitment. Some of stuff on here is accurate but there's a bunch of self-rankings, slamming of other groups and just complete trolls who aren't even Greek. Make your own choices,
