recs
by: pnmI only have a couple of sorority recs from people I know so now I need to reach out to the local alumnae groups. Ive already found a few groups I can ask but I just don't know how. Is email the best way to ask for some of the ladies in the alumnae group an acceptable form of asking for a rec? Also do they expect to meet me/talk to me???

I've contacted alumnae groups as well to get recs! I've spoken to some ladies over the phone because they want to get more info from me as to why I want to join a sorority, what I'm looking for in a sorority etc, those convos last like 10 minutes. I've contacted the groups via email, personally I think it's acceptable!

Yes, email is fine. Call to follow up if you don't hear from alumnae. We meet with a PNM so we can get to know them. Usually meet for coffee. Not uncommon to meet with a couple girls that are friends at same time. Phone calls happen too if alumnae know your friends or relatives. It just depends.
Send thank you notes for recs please.

1-2 is fine. 4-5 is overkill. Don't be that girl.
