are there really 30+ fraternities at bama?
by: GuestIf there are 30+ fraternities why are so many not mentioned on here? How many are in new and old row combined?

Old Row: DKE, SAE, KA, Phi Gam, Phi Delt
New Row: OX, EX, DX, Pike, Pi Kapp, DTD, LXA, ZBT, Beta, ATO
Old Row and New Row is not a physical designation. All of New Row used to be on Jefferson except for Pi Kapp and Beta. Some are still there. New Row are the houses that arrived in the late 1800s and earlier 1900s and have remained consistent since. Other houses like AKL, Phi Psi, Sig Ep, Chi Phi arrived later or have had shoddy years with low memberships or were removed from campus for reasons or simply didn't participate socially or otherwise as much as the houses mentioned. Each house listed above are staples to the campus, rock steady and likely to still be here 100 years from now.

I forgot Kappa Sigma (New Row) and maybe one or two others. Kappa Sigma is one of the oldest houses on campus.
