by: pnmI know this might sound stupid but I have no idea how it works! Do I get a alumni from each chapter to write me a letter of recommendation or do they just write one for all the houses? Or who all can write me letters? I'm just confused!

It really helps if you begin by registering with the Panhellenic Association in your HOMETOWN as they can answer many of these type questions and also help you obtain recs if needed.
To answer your question: you need to ask alumnae of each sorority to write a recommendation for you. Most PNMs get at least 2 alumnae to write a rec for each sorority. They can only write a rec for their sorority.
The alumnae can live anywhere and have attended any university (does not need to be Bama)
