will you get cut if you're a legacy in another hou

by: PNM

My mom went to UA and was in an "old row" house. I'm from OOS but still from the deep south, and I've been told that many sororities, especially the ones considered to be "top tier," will cut me because I'm a legacy in a different "top tier" house. I'm really trying to keep my options open and I highly doubt I'll go to my mom's house, so I really don't want to be cut just because of my her. Is there any truth to this, and if there is, is there anything I can do to prevent it? Thanks!!

Unfortunately, this may be the case of you getting cut. But legacies aren't looked at so closely here at UA because there are just so many of y'all. Just make it very clear to all of your houses that you are keeping your options open. If you're a top tier girl, they will want you not matter what your mom did 30 years ago

If you know after ICT that you would not want to be at your mom's house, then you should start putting them at the bottom of your list. You may be able to get them off before skit. On the other hand, you may come to really like them. I am a triple legacy at a house that I thought I would not want, and did not talk much about it but I did not think I would want to go there -- but what happened on the way to wanting to cut them is that they really grew on me and I ended up wanting them and went there. so beware making conclusions until you are deep in it. At the end of the day, I would not bring it up but I would let actives know if they ask and make clear that you are not focusing on the legacy house and that you were trying to pursue your own path and are totally open. It may or may not work out, but some things you just cannot control and you will be happy anywhere. the pcs are so big and diverse everywhere.
