pnms and recruitment counselors

PNMs, please don't get a recruitment counselor. For one thing we all know which girls have them because it's obvious. In fact, we can usually even pinpoint which girl has hired which counselor. Believe me. If you do what they say to do, you're going to be found out. If you don't, why did you hire one in the first place???
If we really want a girl with an RC, we'll go on and keep inviting her and give her a bid. We don't let it stand in the way. But that girl is going to likely be one we already know about and have for a long time. Not an OOS girl or an unknown.
The place it will really hurt you is if you're in the middle somewhere. We're going to give invitations to the girls who are genuine and show us who they really are before we give an invitation to a girl who is trying to trick us into wanting her by hiring a RC. See, we want girls in the house who will complement our house, not ones that we don't really know because their flaws are whitewashed and their slates wiped clean by their RC.
So, take your chances. If you're hiring a RC because you think you won't get your choice, you should know that you'll have a better chance without her.
And expect to have lots of RCs clogging up the comments pretending to be members who want to credit their RCs with getting them the "house of their dreams." Don't believe it. It just isn't true.

We heard a rumor that a couple of pnms we wanted had hired RCs and had spent a bunch of money on them. We kept them around for a couple of days until everyone was convinced to dump them. They say that they dropped our house but ha ha THEY DIDN'T! Not going to give their names, but likely they know who they are. And it's probably not coincidence that they didn't get any Old row house.

Its a thing. not very many girls get them. only real benefit is they coach you up on what to expect and help you pick what to wear. if a pnm has friends in greek life already, this is the sort of thing a friend like that could help you with anyway. but not everyone has friends already in greek life. these ladies don't have any impact on what house you get into. so if the additional dose of confidence will be something helpful, it might be worth considering. but it is not that competitive. most pnms that go through and maximize their options end up very happy in the end.
