Another lie: Llenroc and AD own their own houses. The maintenance expense for stone mansions of that size and age are crazy, and Llenroc is a multi-acre estate. They have a piece of paper saying they “own” the properties, but the reality is there’s an underlying sale-leaseback agreement with Cornell where Cornell is ultimately responsible financially and the real owner.

AD and Llenroc both own their houses free and clear. No arrangement with the university, just lots of wealth combined with smart alumni leadership over multiple generations. There's plenty of lies on GR but the fact that some frats own amazing houses isn't one of them.
A couple of frats that DON'T own their houses flex about them like they do though, which is alway funny to read for those in the know.

Yeah what is true is that llenroc used to have even more land and then sold it off to the university. Today, I think they own full front yard and most of back and all around. I’m sure university would love to own their house though. And for AD, obviously house is owned by them as is land around goat house I believe. Don’t think the university would have the same interest in posessing it though. But don’t beta, agr, acacia and (i think) sig chi all also own their own?

The foundations that own these houses are public non-profits... you can google them and see they have 2+ million dollar endowments.
