How to rush? I have no idea
by: LeGoatI’m a freshman and I would like to join a frat. I have no idea how it works. I have no clue how the whole rush thing works. I’ve heard people say that rush is in spring sem, but I’ve also seen people going to events right now in fall sem. How does this whole thing work and where do I start? How do I get information? What do I do? Any and all information would be amazing

basically, you’ll get an email from the ifc sometime over winter break that will give you a link to sign up for rush. spring (freshman) rush is the week before school starts, so you will have to come back early. there will be a few days of open houses - basically you go around to whichever fraternities you want to introduce yourself and meet the guys. you will be sent a schedule of what houses are open and when. right now is “dirty rush” where fraternities hold events to get ahead of the game. i wouldn’t worry too much about it, i got into a good house without dirty rushing. if you want to stand out, be outgoing and ask questions. good luck

You can also check out houses’ websites and Instas. Some of them have recruitment info and signup forms to get more info. Some houses don’t have their act together well enough to maintain a current (or even working) website, which should tell you something. The more info you have prior to start of official rush, the better. Finally, the best info comes from actually meeting people in different houses and seeing who you vibe with — that’s on you.
