Genuine question about SDT

Hey, freshman here. I preffed SDT and another house (not sure if I have them yet though obviously) but pretty confident I will go back to both. To be honest I have not had a great experience with SDT so far. All of my conversations have been forced or fake, and it feels like I'm talking to the same type of person over and over again and being asked the same questions about the same things that I have in common with them (summer camp, being from the same place). To be completely upfront, I really only preffed them for social status reasons, since its the highest ranked house I have left. I know, you can judge me but we all succumb to that pressure and I'm fine admitting it at this point.
I really just dont like the house, and an overwhelming large part of other freshmen I have spoke to also do not like it but are "stuck" with it now. Can someone explain why it is ranked so high if people seem not to like it? Or can someone explain why people like it in general?
At this point I am trying to look at the positives in case I do get it back and then get it as my house in the end.I just want to be able to see the bright side but so far that has been kinda hard. Any help please?

i feel so strongly with you about this. the only reason i kept it on my list was because it's ranked high (for whatever reason), but i don't think i'm gonna enjoy my time there. personally i feel like it's not worth it to join just because of social status which is not even that high and then feel mediocre about it for the next 3 years. my 2nd choice rn in azd and i feel like if i get both back im gonna pref azd first. whatever ur second choice is, see how well you mesh with them during pref round and make an informed decisions about what's best for you, not for your image. this could be SDT, but really try to take rankings and all out of your mind.

omg same. sdt and azd. I spoke to my rho about suiciding azd (assuming I get both back) but apparently suiciding somehow reduces your chance of getting a house at ALL, so i'm gonna keep both and just pref SDT lower. but if I don't like the house within like two weeks of bid day I'm pretty prepared to drop and not formally initiate into the house based off of how I feel about it, the girls already in it AND the girls rushing it that I already know. I also personally have been to a lot of zbt events and if it's true that they only mix with zbt I will really not like this house and i'm pretty sure about that

not sure if anyone else had this experience but I'm genuinely really upset that I got dropped from kappa. I felt like my talks were great and like the girls REALLY liked me so I'm left feeling super blindsided. Did any else feel like they were cut out of the blue

yea felt the same about kappa, i clicked really well with the girls i talked to and loved the presentations. i probably didn't fit their image as a poc which sucks.

I don’t understand all the hate. First of all, they are NOT all the same kind of person. It’s idiotic to say so.
They mix with more than ZBT- sig pi, chi psi Dx, and they are nice, fun girls.
Get over yourself. No one is forcing you. There are so many girls that wish they could be in your position.

If you gave preference to a house you didn’t love because of their social status that’s pretty much your own fault. Might as well only pref one house at the end if you’re just planning on dropping them after a week. Let girls that actually want to be there have your spot

agree on following the house you have a genuine connection with instead of status, but azd does not have what sdt doesn't lol
