How should a first contact be interpreted?

If I get a first contact from a house does that basically mean I’ll get a bid? Is there any chance of getting a bid if you don’t get a first contact?

It means they want to keep seeing you. Doesn’t mean they’ll give you a bid yet…

maybe half the first contacts wont get a bid, its all just for bureaucracy
