apart from Cornell Engineering and some students in CAS/CALS/Dyson, everyone else at our school really is not Ivy tier

HYPSM/Columbia/UPenn/UChicago/Duke are just built different.. those are the real alphas

ehh Duke is borderline alpha and Columbia is just too expensive for a 18-25 year old because of NYC living... Caltech, Chicago, Penn and Cornell Engineering are the best after HYPSM

this is why no one raises a brow when you hear "I went to Cornell". only engineers and science majors here are elite, and econ/finance is decent-ish

@lol i go here haha, older sibling was part of Telluride and im in a mid frat... i have siblings and good friends at other top schools, and their experiences are one whole notch better intellectually and socially... cornell still provides a better intellectual experience than any state school but its much much below the other ivies/duke/stanford with the exception of dartmouth college

“No one raises a brow” — only if your friends all went to Harvard and MIT. Say you went to Cornell to any average person and they’re like “whoa that’s an Ivy”

Cornell has 2.5x - 7x the undergrad population of the schools on the list. At 84% we still have more students in the top 10% than any of the other schools have as a total undergrad population. Cornell also has way more niche programs, someone’s GPA in high school isn’t dictating how good they are at landscape architecture and I think that diversity of thought is objectively a good thing.

diversity of thought has absolutely nothing to do with average grades in high school...what Cornell has is a greater diversity on the intelligence spectrum plain and simple- more barely-above average students than the rest of the Ivies

Michigan, USC and UVA all are larger schools than Cornell and are 85- 90% for that stat

imagine believing (non-Engineering) Cornell is on par with Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Columbia, Yale, Penn, Princeton, Chicago, Northwestern

Only HYPSM and UChicago, Upenn and Columbia are considered objectively "better" than Cornell.... Northwestern is on par with Cornell, but nice try... in fact Cornell is typically considered better than JHU, Northwestern, Brown and Dartmouth, and usually considered "tied" with Duke
