There used to be 40 frats on campus. This list is the top 20 of those. Basically dates back to early 2010s before the SAE incident started the trend of most of the decent frats getting kicked off

Before people start boasting that Pi Kapp and Sammy are upper houses, they ought to know that at no point in history were they even close to relevant. Just because the upper houses get kicked off, doesn’t mean that they’re suddenly good houses now

what I don't understand is how there were so many top/upper frats and there have been so few in the last few years. Where did all the chill kids go and who did they mix with if the sororities haven't changed?

Greeklife was larger and people were more social. At the time there were 10+ bars in collegetown. Ever since the SAE incident, greeklife has gotten more and more restrictive. Cornell also has gotten more selective each year, with fewer and fewer fun kids enrolling. These two issues have eliminated the bar scene and made greeklife smaller and less fun.
