How wealthy are the sorority girls’ families?

If you have friends who are actual sorority members they will tell you that if you can pay your dues and afford the extras the you will be fine and 5k per month is not a norm lol. People who don't know anything love to make up $hit.

If people here are honest some sororities at UGA do care about wealth or at least the perception of wealth. It is not too hard to figure out who they are if think about it.

If you get asked about where you travel to, what care you drive, if a lot of the girls went to private schools, and if their parents have beach or lake houses and it is not like one or two girls well you might be looking at a sorority that does value wealth in some way. Also look how they dress compared to the other sororities. Do they look like they are in clothes that are upscale.

That is not to say you could not get in one of those sororities but likely it would be harder. Plus you may not want to be in one of those sororities. Given that your background and experiences are not really similar.

I don't think dues would be a real issue for you. Most are affordable. But there are add on expenses that pop up such as associated with things like fund raisers (you have tickets to an event you did not sell) or socials (maybe you need theme based clothes you don't have).

Overall, I believe you should be able to cover the cost. And you should not being adding $5,000 per month to your parents credit card. It certainly is not as expensive as being at Alabama. But you should go in with an understanding of the costs. It likely varies by sorority. If you know people at different sororities ask them.
