Pref cuts/invites?
by: curious
I’ve been hearing that some sororities cut a lot more PNMs between house tours and pref, while others tend to make bigger cuts earlier in the process (or just don’t make as many cuts at all to get a bigger pledge class).
I was invited to these sororities for house tours: DDD, GPhi, AXO, DZ, DPhiE, SDT
Are any of these known for being more/less likely to make big cuts before pref? The order I listed them is my ranking at this point but I know PNM rankings don’t really matter that much unless every sorority wants to invite me back

From what I know, DDD tends to make their biggest cuts after rounds 1/2, so if they’ve kept you around, they’re probably at least somewhat considering you. The rest of the houses you mentioned do typically make the biggest cuts before pref, but they still give more pref invites than a lot of the “top” chapters. DPhiE definitely makes the fewest cuts at this point (maybe AXiD too but they’re still too new to know for sure what their recruitment strategy is).
Keep in mind that every chapter does have to cut some girls before pref, so you’re definitely guaranteed an invite back to DDD, but no matter what happens, it’s important to remember that pretty much any sorority that kept you around to this point sees you as someone who could be an asset to their chapter, but at the end of the day it’s a numbers game and they have to make cuts based on very limited information

Sort of yes and sort of no. The chapters don't decide their numbers of cuts/invites for themselves, they all get them from panhellenic at each round, which are based on percentages of the number of pnm's left in the process. While each chapter has different release numbers based on their recent past years of recruiting strength, the releases are steady from round to round as the week progresses with no disproportionate jumps at this point. There is no way to tell what you will get back for pref, it's all completely subjective, but good luck. The best advice for you now is if you have a clear favorite at pref you need to tell them so.
