What are snap bids?

by: pnmhere

A few girls in my group were talking about this. Is it something I need to know? I didn’t want to seem dumb by asking them.

If a sorority does not match to quota after pref, they can snap bid to get up to quota in the period between bid matching and before bids are distributed on bid day. They can offer snap bids to pnm's who did not receive a bid during recruitment; ie dropped by all houses, or dropped out themselves, or SIP'd at pref and did not get that house.

A pnm would get notified and have a short time to decide to accept or decline the snap. Pnm's who accept a snap bid go to bid day with everyone else.

A snap bid is NOTHING for a pnm to count on; there are not many of them and a sorority that dropped you in the early rounds is not going to turn around and offer you a snap bid. Don't worry about it. Your Gamma Chi can tell you all about it.
