Beta Theta Pi actually began at UGA in 1846 as a secret fraternity. They were part of the mystical seven society (similar to “skull & bones”). They voted to become the Epsilon Epsilon chapter in the 1980s so they could participate in the UGA interfraternity council recruitment process.
People should know the background of the frats they rush.
